Hello everyone,
As you must be able to tell, I've set up a blog so that I can share with you some of my adventures. I leave Melbourne at 1:00am on the 15th of March 2004, with my friends Ann and Dan (if they can't do it no one can!). The cities on our round the world ticket are Bangkok, Vienna, Istanbul, London and New York. I will however, hopefully be travelling quite extensively through Europe. The reason for this trip was initially for us to go to the Soulclipse festival (www.soulclipse.com) to see 3 minutes and 30 seconds of solar eclipse totality and go crazy psy-trance style. This is still our number one priority but we've expanded our horizons a little further than first expected! I'm looking forward to spending Ann's birthday in the famous Turkish treehouses at Kadir's (www.kadirstreehouses.com) and staying at the "Funky Chicken" hostel in Romania, where the price of your room includes 'all you can smoke' cigarettes! I'm sure they'll be the finest quality! Anyway, I don't want to give too much away and I don't want to jinx myself either!
The 3 of us headed into Aussie Disposals on Elizabeth Street on Saturday and spent "a gazillion" dollars on tents, backpacks, sleeping bags, Mag lites, padlocks, moneybelts and more. It's all feeling very real all of a sudden! I've been road-testing the day pack of my backpack and am starting to feel comfortable with it already! I'm sure it's going to end up being my best friend on the journey (other than my human counterparts of course!). The full backpack will be getting road-tested at the Rainbow Serpent festival (www.rainbowserpent.net) this weekend.
Hopefully I'll have my digital camera sometime soon so that I can start figuring out how to post some photos for you to marvel at.
Until next time,
